Lyceum Theatre is a legendary theatre with the longest history in Shanghai and is still in use now.Mao Zedong,Liu Shaoqi,Zhou Enlai,Liu Shaoqi,Chen Yi and Song Qingling all had watched shows here.The classics are too numerous to mention. Peking Opera artist Mei Lanfang resolutely opposed to performe during the anti-Japanese war for eight years and Lyceum is the theatre where he made a comeback with Kunqu Opera Thorn Tiger in 1945.Besides,the first time the world-famous violin concerto The Butterfly Lovers being performed was in the Lyceum Theatre in 1959.The Lyceum Theatre have continued its "story,taste and sentiment"legend after renovation in 2021.
