The Majestic Theatre was built in 1941 and was once called the No.1 theatre in Asia.Peking opera performing artist Mei Lanfang,world-renowned ballet master Ulanova,and classic repertoires such as Sifan,Broken Bridge and Landang Tinder have all been presented on the Majestic stage.In 2016,the Majestic Theater returned after renovation.In addition to staging performances such as dramas and musicals,it also provides film screening service,becoming the official co-screening venue of the Shanghai International Film Festival.It is also the third venue with more than 1,000 seats besides Shanghai Film Art Centre and Grand Theatre.
