Founded in 2004

Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra is a professional symphony orchestra developed from the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra.Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra originated from Shanghai Film Orchestra(1956)and Shanghai Broadcasting Orchestra(1950),both of which had made great contributions to the development of Chinese film and broadcasting industry.

The name of the orchestra was changed to the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in 2004 . Since 2018,famous conductor Zhang Yi has become the artistic director of this Orchestra . The orchestra gradually form its unique way in presenting diverse professional performances , and become a comprehensive and influential symphony orchestra .
