Dragon TV Center is the main operating base for literary and artistic content creation at Shanghai Media Group (SMG). The center operates  three major broadcasting platforms, including  Dragon TV, City TV and Dazzling Drama Channel, with independent producer teams serving as its main production forces.

Dragon TV was officially established on October 23, 2003, 

From the outset, Dragon TV was positioned as a "news-based platform", and in 2009, it expanded its programming to provide news,art and TV drama .. In 2019, Dragon TV futther diversified its program offerings including a slate of  innovative programs including "China Now", "Heroes", "We Are in Action", " Go Fighting Season", "Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting", " Shanghai Police - Real Stories ", and "The Yangtze River" with household acclaim.

In the 2021 annual ranking of China Vewership Big data (CVB), Dragon TV solidified its top two rank amongst prime satellite TVs  in the nation. Specificaly, during the prime-time period of 18:00 to 23:00 pm, Dragon TV placed first in ratings for two consecutive years. During weekend prime time, Dragon TV also maintained its competitive edge, ranking first on Sunday and second overall on weekends.
